The First Baptist Church of Bethel has a rich history dating back to its organization in 1872. In its early days, worship services were held inside the old Pomeroy schoolhouses until a permanent building was constructed. Situated on the corner of 75th and Leavenworth Road, the church occupies an acre of land generously donated by Thomas Benton, the son of one of the founding fathers. This location remains the site of the church to this day, serving as a testament to the longstanding presence and commitment of the congregation to the Bethel community.
